Our commitment to you
Dr Ng practises in accordance with the Medical Board of Australia’s Good Medical Practice: a code of conduct for doctors in Australia. We are committed to providing a safe, respectful and supportive environment for our patients, their families and our team. This Code sets out what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you, so that everyone is treated with courtesy and care.
Who this applies to
This Code applies to all patients, and to the family members, carers and visitors who accompany them while engaging with our practice — in person, by phone, or online.
What you can expect from us
Our team will treat you with respect, courtesy and dignity; listen to your concerns; explain your care and any examination clearly, including seeking your permission before any physical contact; protect your privacy; and respond to feedback and complaints professionally and without disadvantage to you.
What we ask of you
To help us care for you and others safely, we ask that you:
- raise any concerns about your care directly with us, rather than with other patients or in public forums, so we can address them promptly.
- attend your appointments on time, or give us as much notice as possible if you cannot attend;
- treat our team, other patients and visitors with respect and courtesy, and avoid aggressive, hostile or disruptive behaviour;
- provide accurate and complete information about your health, symptoms and medications;
- follow the advice and instructions of your healthcare providers, and our health, safety and infection-control measures (such as hand hygiene or mask-wearing when asked);
- maintain a reasonable standard of personal hygiene, and let us know if you have symptoms that may pose a risk to others;
- meet your financial obligations for the services provided;
- treat our facilities, equipment and property with care, dispose of waste appropriately, and help keep shared spaces clean;
- keep noise to a minimum in waiting areas, including from phones and devices;
- avoid food and drink in clinical areas unless medically necessary or approved by staff; and
- raise any concerns about your care directly with us, rather than with other patients or in public forums, so we can address them promptly.
Zero tolerance for harassment
We have a zero-tolerance approach to harassment of any kind toward our team, patients or visitors, including:
- discriminatory harassment — harassment based on age, disability, race, sex, intersex status, gender identity or sexual orientation.
- sexual harassment — such as inappropriate physical contact, comments or questions of a sexual nature, or persistent unwanted advances;
- verbal harassment — such as threatening, insulting, abusive or aggressive language; and
- discriminatory harassment — harassment based on age, disability, race, sex, intersex status, gender identity or sexual orientation.
If this Code is not followed
Where this Code is not followed, we may: discuss the matter with you; limit access to certain services or facilities; or, where necessary to maintain a safe and respectful environment, decline or end the provision of services and assist you to find care elsewhere. Serious incidents may be reported to the appropriate authorities.
Review and variation
We may vary, replace or withdraw this Code from time to time. The current version is available on our website and on request at reception.
